Coffered Ceiling Paintings of Yatsurugi Hachiman-jinja
The coffered ceiling of the worship hall is adorned with 162 decorative paintings created in the Kano School style. These paintings depict landscapes, birds and flowers, and animals. Since the shrine buildings, including the worship hall, were reconstructed in 1773 (the 2nd year of the An’ei era) during the mid-Edo period, the paintings are believed to date back to the 18th century.
