Mabune Jin-ya Site

This is the site of Hayashi family's Jin-ya.

Hayashi family was a hereditary daimyo of 10,000 koku, and ruled Jōzai domain.

The family held high-ranking positions in the Shogunate, such as Wakadoshiyori, for many generations.

The Jin-ya was built by Hayashi Harimanokami Tadaakira in 1850 (Kaei 3).

In 1868 (Keiō 4/Meiji 1), when the Boshin War broke out,

Hayashi Masanosuke Tadataka burned down the Jin-ya himself in order to resist the new government forces, and went into battle.

The earthwork from those days still remains today.
